What comes to your mind first when someone asks ‘How to improve health?’
Many will say by eating healthy food, such as green vegetables, less oily & fried food or less spicy & outdoor food. Others will say by exercising, yoga, gym, running, cycling, etc.
Yes, it is true that by doing the things mentioned above will improve health. However, the question is why no one thinks that by keeping a clean house one can improve health?
How does ‘keeping a clean house improves health’ make sense?
Think about it, you live in a city, which is too polluted and dirty. You will start staying at home more than usual. Why? To avoid pollution, dirt and disease. Same way if your house is not properly cleaned, then there is no difference between outdoor and indoor. At the end of the day, your house will affect your health. You are going to get a disease one way or another. So, what can you do to keep your house clean?
Ø Mop floors and windows
Ø Vacuum entire house
Ø Organize bed and dining table
Ø Clean washroom everyday
Ø Clean your kitchen
Wait, before giving a lecture on what to do and what not to do. Let’s go through the health benefits of clean house:
Ø Effect on stress level: Supposedly, one of the family members comes home from all day’s work and sees the mess in the house like, unclean floors, scattered things, etc. will create frustration and this is likely to increase their stress level. However, imagine coming home to a clean and organized place. It will automatically have a positive impact.
Ø Helps in asthma: Do you know asthma is likely to decrease at salty places and increase at dusty places. However, I am not asking you to turn your home into a salty place, but dust causes bad air quality and that increases the chances of asthma. Having clean carpets, bedsheets, etc. is important if anyone has asthma in the house.
Ø Less chances of disease: Most diseases come from dirty places e.g. – dump yard, garbage, etc. Imagine if your house is not cleaned properly, what is the probability that diseases will come? Probably higher than you could imagine. So, keep your dustbins clean & tidy to keep yourself away from dengue and malaria.
Ø Pest control: Pests are creatures’ habitats living in dirty places. Regularly have #pestcontrol in the house and secure the health & wellbeing of you and your family.
As of now, I think you understand how a clean house can affect your health.
